Arvind,

Is this compatible with MT4? I noticed the date you posted this... after installing and attempting to run MTBlogroll from the plugin listing within the System Overview, I get a blank white page. Any suggestions?

Thanks! -Patrick

Hi Patrick, MT Blogroll isn't yet compatible with MT4 but there will definitely be an update soon. The date attached to this is just due to my recent rebuilding of Movalog and Movalog Plugins.

I am looking forward to having Blogrolling updated for MT4 myself.

This Plug-in maybe be one of the most important plug-ins for MT. I have read that Movable Type 4.0 is now an Open Source Software. I guess if that's true, more developers will be able to develop for MT. Regardless of the # of Developers, I expect that the MT-Blogroll to still be the most important plug-in.

I Can't wait until the Blogroll 4.0 version is completed!!

Arvind, I'm ecstatic you're working on this. Indeed, this is one of the most important plug-in's in MT history, in my opinion. Once this baby is up for grabs I'm sending ya a donation.

Ohhh.. I figured Blogroll had to be out for MT4 by now--wish I'd looked before I updated.

This is completely useless. It has taken me a week to figure this out. It took 2 hours for me to get an e-mail to lead me to this page, which only made matters worse because I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. And I'm on a Mac, so it's not like anything ever works properly anyway.

Hi Arvind. I thought there was a beta version somewhere for MT4 (or 4.01?) for the blogroll plugin? If so, can you drop me a quick mail if you have a moment? Cheers. Marcus. p.s. is that Jay's word plugin (Please type the word "movalog") you have operating on here? Didn't know it was compatible with 4.01. Nice.

err.. your live comment preview shows a date of June 8, 2:22pm btw.. real time (according to my previous comment) is Oct 6, 2:55am.. weirdness.

Extra step: I had to go to plugins/Blogroll/mt-blogroll.cgi and use chmod (in UNIX) to set the file to be executable; the original permissions were 644, which doesn't allow execution.

..?

I actually got so desperate I installed WordPress.. but WP is dynamic, and I prefer to use static pages (bad experience with an ex-host and their crappy database servers).

Trouble is, I've now lost a heap of links I had backed up when I did a fresh install of my o/s recently (which I do every 4-6 months or so), so maybe too late now, unless I find an old outdated backup on one of the many old burned CDs I have laying around.. :(

I've actually pretty much stopped blogging now since I have a kind of incomplete setup. Maybe I wont bother getting back into it.

Bah I'm raving, sorry.

Hi Arvind,

Is there an expected date for the MT4 version of Blogroll? Thanks for all your hard work on this.

Arvind said back on August 24, "there will definitely be an update soon." I guess "soon" is highly subjective as it's been more than three months since.

My PageRank's dropped from 5 to 2 as all of my reciprocal links via the Blogroll have been MIA for months... MONTHS!

I'm beginning to regret my donation to Movalog.

Hi Arvind,

thank you very much for your big efforts in creating plugins for movable type. But one question is bothering me, could you give me and us a hint when an update could be available for MT Blogroll?

Thanks Sebastian

Wow, I'm sure looking forward to the mt4 version.

Actually, I'm amazed six-apart didn't roll this into mt4 as a default feature; seems so obvious MT needs this!

Thanks Arvind, for filling in what they forget.

Can anyone fill me in about possible alternatives to the missing Blogroll plugin for MT4? Is there a hack out there that we can use while waiting for MovableType or Arvind to release a compatible version?

demo said:
on May 6, 2008 6:29 PM | Reply

I think it's safe to say now that this plugin will never be back. No idea why 6Apart still have it listed in their plugins pages -- probably because if they got rid of all the outdated plugins, there'd be almost nothing left.

The new version of MT Blogroll has been available for many months under its new name and location, Link Roller: http://plugins.movalog.com/link-roller/
