Installing Template Shelf
Extract the distribution and preserve the directories. The directories that have been extracted correspond to the directories in your Movable Type installation. Upload these directories to your Movable Type installation such that file structure looks like so:
MT_DIR_/ |__ mt-static/ | |__ plugins/ | |__ TemplateShelf/ | |__ images/ | |__ shape_move_backwards.png |__ plugins/ |__ TemplateShelf/ |__ TemplateShelf.pl |__ tmpl/ |__ template_shelf.tmplIf the plugin was successfully installed, you should see something similar to this in System Overview > Plugins:

TemplateShelf was installed properly, showed up in System Overview: Plugins and showed up as a small window on bottom right hand corner.
But, when each of the template category was selected, none of the available showed up. All were empty.

I meant none of the available templates showed up.

Hi Yser, Are you perchance using Internet Explorer? I believe Template Shelf causes an error in IE which prevents the templates from appearing. I'm hoping to figure out why that happens and release a fix but for now I've tested it in Firefox and Safari (both on the mac) and it seems to work fine there.

Running MT4 successfully on commercially hosted IIS server with DBD::mySQL v 3.0002. Do not have available the following optional mods through the host: Image::Magick Crypt::DSA Cache::Memcached IO::Compress::Gzip IO::Uncompress::Gunzip
From the MT4 dashboard, (system overview/plugins) Template Shelf is listed and enabled. But from the (named blog/design/templates) page, no Template Shelf sidebar widget on my particular blog. System overview offers no additional functionality besides toggle enable/disable.
Any thoughts, things to try?

Hi Jeff, I think you may be looking in the wrong spot. As the screenshots and screencast demonstrate, the Template Shelf sidebar widget appears on the template editing screen and not the template listing (design » templates)

BTW: using Firefox 2.0.0.6 as the client browser.

Yes, I use Maxthon 2, which is IE based. Thanks for replying, Arvind. Your plugins are superb.

Arvind, I wish there were a way to leave a "default" list up. -As in: Always List All Templates, Modules, Widgets, etc.
I really miss the way all index templates, archives and modules used to be listed on one page. This switching is irritating.

hi Arvin, I'm an MT newbie, tweaking an install of v4.1. Installed by my host, I have only a 'managed-mt' directory, which has but one 'plugins' folder ... no idea where to put 'shapemovebackwards.png'?
cheers,
svs
